alcohol rehab

If you are entering Pennsylvania rehab center to receive drug or alcohol treatment, the person can choose between an inpatient and outpatient rehab program. Inpatient therapy is ideal for those suffering with severe addictions, which require medically assisted detox. But when addiction is not as severe, or in other circumstances, outpatient treatment at WaterGapWellness is a convenient and flexible option to receive assistance in fighting alcohol and drug addiction.

A successful addiction treatment program will aid the person to stop using drugs or drinking alcohol and maintain a non-drug lifestyle, and achieve a happy active, healthy and meaningful life in recovery. Since addiction is a condition that is not curable, many people are not in a position to stop using drugs for a few days and become cured. It is not the way addiction works. You may think that you can quit whenever you want, but it will continue to pull you back. People typically require long-term or repeated care to achieve the goal of abstinence and recovery in their lives.

Beginning Outpatient Rehab

Many people ask, what is the procedure for outpatient rehab Pennsylvania programs function? The first step of treatment is to perform an assessment. Patients who are admitted to RCA are assessed with the American Society of Addiction Medicine Criteria (ASAM). This will allow them to identify the kind of treatment is required.

The assessment has six dimensions:

Dimension 1 - Acute intoxicant potential and withdrawal potential. This dimension is a look at a person’s past and current experiences with alcohol and withdrawal.

Dimension 2 - Biomedical issues and their complications. This dimension lets you look at the health of a person and their history.

Dimension 3: Emotional, behavioral or cognitive conditions and complications, look at a person's thoughts, emotions, and mental health issues

Dimension 4 - Readiness to Change, which measures the level of interest and enthusiasm the person is about making changes in their lives.

Dimension 5: Relapse, continued use, or a persistent problem possibility. This dimension examines the unique connection between a person's relapse, continued usage, or potential problems.

Dimension 6: Living Environment and Recovery. This dimension focuses on a person's living and recovery surroundings, as well as the people, places and things that they interact with.

RCA Therapists utilize the data from the six dimensions to determine the right amount of treatment a patient needs to start their recovery.

Six dimensions that give an entire picture of the issues that are being confronted. If you address all of these issues, instead of just some or none, there is a better likelihood of a successful recovery. There is rarely one reason for addiction. The ASAM Criteria considers all the factors that contribute to an individual's addiction.

It's at this point that RCA therapists and patients begin to work together to create an outpatient treatment program that best suits them.

Different types of Outpatient Rehabilitation Treatment

Depending on the facility, RCA provides three different types of outpatient treatment with various levels of care to help you in your journey to recovery. The ASAM criteria plays an important influence on how each patient is matched to each program. RCA Therapists will discuss with patients about their options and help them select the one that is most suitable for their requirements.

The RCA's Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is designed to move patients from inpatient to outpatient treatment using a step-down method. It is used to treat patients who require a more intensive level of treatment with a greater frequency. Participants in PHP are programming 5 hours per day, five times per week, which is about 25 hours per week.

The RCA's Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) can be used to transition from PHP or for patients who are ready to move to an easier level of treatment than inpatient or PHP. These patients require a higher degree of care than inpatients and PHP and are committed to staying sober and remaining in the community of recovery. IOP patients attend 3 hours of sessions every day three times every week.

The RCA's General Outpatient Program (GOP) is the least demanding outpatient program and aids in preparing patients for long-term and meaningful recovery. Patients receive sufficient support to remain sober at home, as well as in the community. Outpatient sessions run for about 90 minutes each day and are usually held 1-3 times per semaine. General outpatient sessions continue for an unknown amount of time until the Primary Therapist, the patient and family members decide that the level of GOP support is no longer needed. The patients are now ready to move to the next phase of their recovery.

You can see that the three levels in RCA can be used together or independently. Treatment is tailored to the individual needs of each patient at the time.

Patients and their therapists can opt to take advantage of treatments as either a step down or step up approach. RCA offers a therapy that can help patients recover.
